The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the assumption of duty of a new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke.
In a statement released on Monday, the Commission said Dr. Agboke officially resumed office on April 20, 2026.
Dr. Agboke, described as a seasoned legal scholar and election management expert from Abeokuta, Ogun State, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006. He previously served as a member of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) between 2012 and 2016.
The statement noted that he has also held the position of REC in Ondo, Oyo and Osun States, where he supervised both the 2019 and 2023 general elections.
Highlighting his track record, INEC stated that Dr. Agboke “is known for integrity, transparency and professionalism.”
The Commission expressed optimism about his new role, adding that it is confident in his capacity to strengthen the electoral process in Ondo State.
“The Commission expresses confidence in his ability to strengthen electoral integrity and deliver credible, free and fair elections in Ondo State,” the statement said.
