Tension as vigilantes allegedly kill 20-year-old in Ore

Residents of the Omotosho area of Ore in Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State have been thrown into tension following the tragic killing of a 20-year old man, identified as Haruna Adamu.

The incident reportedly occurred on April 11, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m., under circumstances that have generated concern and controversy within the community.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the deceased was shot during an encounter with a group of suspected vigilantes operating in the area.

According to sources, the vigilante group had earlier accosted the victim and others, allegedly demanding money before the situation escalated into a heated argument.

β€œIn the course of the altercation, Haruna Adamu was shot in the head,” a source said.

It was gathered that passersby returning from work later discovered the lifeless body by the roadside and raised the alarm.

It was also learnt that a cow, believed to belong to the deceased or his group, was found dead at the scene.

The development has heightened fear and anxiety among residents, particularly within the Fulani community, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.

A security source who confirmed the incident said the deceased has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
