The 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Computer-Based Test has commenced in Akure, the Ondo State capital, with candidates turning out in large numbers for the nationwide entrance examination.
Our correspondent who visited the JAMB centre in Alagbaka observed that candidates were calmly seated, awaiting their turn to write the examination.
Parents, Candidates and other stakeholders expressed cautious optimism about the conduct of the exercise, despite minor delays and little glitches reported in some instances.
Although access to the examination hall was restricted, some parents at the centre commended the overall organization of the process, noting a noticeable improvement compared to previous years, despite slight delays.
One of the parents, Olabisi Akindele, praised the conduct of the examination, saying, “I am impressed, but there is always room for improvement.”
Another parent, Peter Balogun, noted that while there was an initial delay before the commencement of the exams, the situation improved as the exercise progressed.
“I will give them 80 percent because the exams did not start as scheduled. Students had to wait before the commencement,” he said.
Some of the candidates also expressed satisfaction with the process, stating that they remain optimistic about achieving excellent results.
From his experience, Babatunde Joseph said he experienced a little glitch which was later resolved by the Jamb officials.
“When the examination commenced, It take a while to have my calculation table to be displayed on the screen, I called the attention of a Jamb official, and she resolved it within five minutes, I was able to continue with it.”
One of the candidates, Irebami Martins, who sat for the examination, commended the smooth conduct of the exercise.
“It was a smooth one for me, I pray for success at the end.”
