The Executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Honourable Dr. Gbenga Fashua, alongside party leaders Luyi Oluwatayo and Adeola Fynch, has described the APC House of Representatives direct primary election in Akure South as peaceful, credible and seamless.
Fashua said Akure South has maintained a long-standing tradition of orderly conduct, leadership and peaceful participation during elections, noting that the exercise reflected the political maturity of the people.
According to him, party members conducted themselves responsibly without violence or coercion, while voters freely expressed their opinions and preferences during the exercise.
He said the turnout across the local government was massive and impressive, adding that the process remained free, fair and credible throughout the wards visited.
“Akure has this manner of comporting themselves, of being orderly, without disruption. People came out to express their views and make their choices peacefully,” he said.
Fashua noted that from the wards he personally monitored, Hon. Omowunmi appeared to be leading significantly, having won about eight wards, while Honourable Alex Adedipe emerged as the next strongest contender.
He commended party members for turning out en masse and praised the arrangements put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the primary election.
The council chairman also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, expressing confidence that the party would continue to maintain its strength ahead of future elections.
Speaking further, he said leadership should be rooted in sincerity, empathy and quality representation, promising to always prioritise the welfare of the people.
Meanwhile, APC chieftains Luyi Oluwatayo and Adeola Fynch also applauded the conduct of the primary, describing the exercise as peaceful, less violent and well organised.
According to them, party members trooped out massively to participate in the direct primary in line with the laid down rules and regulations of the party.
They stated that the process witnessed in Akure South was consistent with what took place across the 203 wards in Ondo State.
The duo further described the primary election as seamless, noting that party officials were fully on ground to coordinate the exercise effectively.
They urged party supporters to remain calm and magnanimous in victory as the party moves forward after the primary election exercise.
