The Ondo State House of Assembly has passed a bill into law converting Owena Press Limited into the Ondo State Government Printing and Publishing Corporation
Chairman of the relevant committee, Hon. Oshati, described the development as long overdue, noting that it marks a significant step toward improved efficiency, sustainability, and stronger government communication.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House expressed optimism that the new corporation would enhance the security of official publications while ensuring proper archival preservation of government records and historical materials. He also commended committee members for their diligence and lauded Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to the overall development of the state.
In a related development, the Assembly also passed into law a bill amending the Ondo State Electric Power Sector Law, 2020.
The motion for its passage was moved by the House Leader and seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu. Presenting the report, Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee on Transportation and Public Utilities, Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa, said the amendment would pave the way for stable, reliable, and affordable electricity across the state.
He added that increased investment in electricity projects would boost the state’s internally generated revenue.
The bill was subsequently approved through a unanimous voice vote.
Meanwhile, lawmakers also received the report of the Public Accounts Committee on the 2022 Auditor-General’s report covering the audited accounts of the 18 local government areas in the state.
The Assembly observed a minute’s silence in honour of the late Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammed Usman, who recently passed away.
Plenary was thereafter adjourned to Friday, April 10, 2026.
