A pro-Tinubu support group in Ondo State, under the banner of “Tinubu Datiwa,” has organised a massive solidarity health walk in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, with participants turning out in large numbers for the event tagged “Tinubu Datiwa Half a Million Man Walk 2027.”
The walk, which commenced at the Government House in Akure and terminated at the State Stadium, featured road walks and aerobic exercises. Participants were drawn from across the 18 local government areas of the state, including government officials, civil servants, artisans, security personnel, and youths.
Addressing participants, Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who led the walk, hinted at the possible reinstatement of some recently disengaged political aides.
It would be recalled that the governor had, on March 30, approved the immediate disengagement of all political aides as part of efforts to reposition his administration for improved efficiency and service delivery.
Aiyedatiwa commended the presence of the former aides at the event despite their recent disengagement, describing their turnout as a demonstration of loyalty and commitment to his administration.
“I am happy many of the aides are here. This shows loyalty, even though all the SSAs have been relieved. Many of you will still find your way back into government,” the governor stated.
He explained that the health walk was one of several initiatives by pro-Tinubu support groups aimed at mobilising grassroots support across the state.
“This walk was put together by one of the support groups here in Ondo State for the re-election of our President, Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is one of many activities lined up to mobilise support,” he said.
The governor also highlighted the scale of participation at the event.
“You can see the number of people that are here. It is a half-a-million-man walk for Ashiwaju,” he added.
Emphasising the importance of grassroots mobilisation, Aiyedatiwa urged participants to return to their respective wards and local government areas to sustain the momentum.
“The main work is at the unit, ward, and local government levels. I have advised them to go back and continue the mobilisation. By February 2027, we will deliver nothing less than one million votes,” he assured.
Beyond the political significance of the event, the governor stressed the importance of physical well-being, encouraging residents to adopt regular exercise.
“Health is wealth. We must keep fit physically, mentally, and spiritually—for the task ahead,” he said.
Earlier, the Coordinator of the walk and Immediate Past Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports, Kehinde Akinrotoye Bonsue, noted that the initiative was aimed at demonstrating strong support for President Tinubu while engaging youths across the state.
“This Half a Million Man Walk is a testament to the trust and confidence we have in President Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Bonsue said.
He added that over 500,000 youths participated in the exercise and expressed optimism that more young people would be reintegrated into governance under the Aiyedatiwa administration.
