Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved the constitution of the Ondo State Cocoa Revolution and Management Board as part of efforts to reposition agriculture and strengthen the state’s economy through enhanced cocoa production.
The establishment of the board aligns with the administration’s Cocoa Revolution Agenda, a strategic initiative aimed at increasing cocoa output, improving the livelihoods of farmers, promoting value chain development, and restoring Ondo State’s status as Nigeria’s leading cocoa-producing state.
According to a statement from the state government, the board will be responsible for coordinating policies, mobilising stakeholders, attracting investments, and driving innovation across the cocoa sector to ensure sustainable growth and competitiveness.
The newly constituted board comprises Mr. Omolade Fabiyi as Chairman, while Alhaji Taiwo Ayoade, Dr. Jibayo Oyebade, Hon. Augustine Oloruntogbe, Akinbola Omolade Franklin and Mr. Tope Oni will serve as members. Mr. Anthony Omolakin was appointed Secretary of the board.
Governor Aiyedatiwa congratulated the appointees and charged them to deploy their wealth of experience, integrity and expertise towards achieving the objectives of the Cocoa Revolution Agenda.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting cocoa farmers through the provision of improved seedlings, greater access to finance, extension services and modern processing facilities aimed at increasing productivity and profitability.
The governor expressed confidence that the board would play a pivotal role in transforming the cocoa sector, creating employment opportunities, boosting the state’s internally generated revenue and ensuring a sustainable future for cocoa-producing communities across Ondo State.
He noted that the initiative underscores his administration’s determination to harness the immense potential of agriculture as a catalyst for economic growth, rural development and prosperity for the people of the state.
