Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has revealed that her smoking habit once threatened her marriage after her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, warned that it would end their union if their child ever picked up the habit from her.
The actress made the revelation during an interview with media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where she admitted that she previously smoked cigarettes and still vapes occasionally.
According to Toyin, her husband repeatedly urged her to stop smoking while she was pregnant, stressing the need to protect both her health and that of their unborn child.
She recalled that after giving birth, she resumed smoking and was seen by Ajeyemi during an outing.
“When I gave birth, we went out. I smoked, he saw me, and he did not say anything,” she recounted.
Rather than reacting angrily, Ajeyemi calmly issued a warning that she said has stayed with her ever since.
“I won’t ask you not to smoke or drink, but if my child picks up the habit from you, that is the end of the marriage,” she quoted him as saying.
Toyin said the warning left a lasting impression on her, noting that while her husband has always respected her personal choices, he remains committed to protecting their children from negative influences.
She described Ajeyemi as the greatest blessing in her life, saying he has always allowed her to be herself without trying to change her personality.
“My husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, is the best thing that has happened to me. He lets me be me,” she said.
The actress also disclosed that despite her career in Nollywood, Ajeyemi has never complained about her kissing fellow actors in movies, saying he understands the demands of her profession and continues to support her.
