The Chairman of Ose Local Government area of Ondo State, Mr. Clement Ojo, has assured residents of adequate security following the abduction of a nine-year-old boy during an attack by suspected gunmen on Igbosi Community along Imeri Road in Idogun.Ondo government updates
The council chairman, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Oluwaseun Ogunniyi, condemned the incident, describing it as an attack on the peace and security enjoyed by communities in the local government area.
The suspected gunmen reportedly invaded the community in the early hours of Friday, vandalised property and whisked away the young boy, throwing residents into panic.
Reacting to the development, Ojo said security agencies were immediately mobilised after receiving information about the attack, adding that efforts were ongoing to rescue the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
According to him, operatives of the Ose Braves Security Outfit, working alongside the police, Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes and other security agencies, have intensified search operations in strategic locations and surrounding forests.
The chairman said the local government remained committed to protecting lives and property, stressing that additional surveillance had been deployed across vulnerable communities and boundary areas within the council.
He sympathised with the family of the abducted boy and other residents affected by the attack, urging the public to remain calm, vigilant and supportive of security agencies by providing useful information.
“The peace and security of our people remain non-negotiable. We are working closely with all security agencies, and I can assure residents that every necessary measure has been activated to ensure the safe rescue of the victim and the apprehension of those responsible for this unfortunate act.
“Ose Local Government will not surrender its communities to criminal elements. We remain resolute in our determination to protect lives and property,” Ojo said.
He also urged residents to avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic, assuring them that authorities would continue to provide credible updates on the ongoing security operations.
