The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, has debunked false and misleading reports of breach of security which led to panic withdrawal of students from schools on Wednesday.
In a statement which he personally signed, Ajibefun affirmed that Ondo State schools are safe, secured and conducive for learning, saying that there is absolutely no cause for alarm.
He also stated that the State Government, in perfect synergy with conventional security agencies and local enforcement architectures, has already deployed robust security measures across all public and private schools, to ensure the safety of teachers and learners.
He said, “The government deeply appreciates the natural concern of parents for the safety of their children.
“However, yielding to unverified rumours and disrupting the academic calendar by withdrawing children from school only plays into the hands of mischief-makers.”
The Commissioner appealed to parents to remain calm, maintain regular school attendance for their children, and rely only on official government channels for information.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity around school communities to the nearest security formation.
“The Ondo State Government remains unyieldingly committed to safeguarding the lives and futures of our children.
“School activities continue as scheduled, and our commitment to an uninterrupted, safe academic calendar remains absolute,” he added.
