It added that the patient is stable and responding positively to care.

The NCDC explained that immediate response actions were launched in partnership with the Cross River State Ministry of Health and relevant health partners. These measures include contact tracing, intensified surveillance, and strengthened infection prevention and control activities.

Authorities noted that all identified contacts are being actively monitored, with no signs of further transmission detected so far.

The agency stressed that Nigeria’s disease surveillance system remains active and effective, saying the detection of the case reflects ongoing monitoring capabilities.

It also reiterated that routine surveillance for COVID-19 and other respiratory infections continues nationwide.

Nigerians were urged to maintain basic preventive practices such as regular handwashing, proper respiratory hygiene, staying home when unwell, and seeking medical care when necessary. The public was also cautioned against spreading misinformation, with advice to rely only on official health updates.

The NCDC reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitoring the situation and providing timely updates as needed.

Nigeria first recorded COVID-19 in February 2020, which led to a nationwide response coordinated by the NCDC. While cases have significantly reduced since the peak of the pandemic, health experts note that isolated infections can still occur as the virus continues to circulate globally.

Health officials maintain that early detection, swift response, and effective contact tracing remain essential in preventing any potential outbreak.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed a single case of COVID-19 in Cross River State, assuring the public that there…

[41

post-1362","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics
["GET
