Former Governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, has officially resigned his membership from the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said in the letter dated April 10, 2026 and personally signed by him, \u201cI hereby tender my resignation from the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP), effective April 10, 2026, for strictly personal reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs you are very much aware, I have somewhat distanced myself from party activities for sometime. This stance afforded me a great deal of time to reflect and consult widely, upon which the decision to quit the PDP was taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet me add that I take the decision to resign my membership of the PDP without animosity toward anyone, and wish the Party well in its future endeavors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mimiko who has largely been away from partisan politics for a while, in the resignation letter said: \u201cspeculations and inquiries about my membership status have made it necessary for me to clarify my position\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs I have been somewhat distanced from party activities, I wish to put it on record that I am no longer a member of the PDP.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former governor said he took the decision \u201cwithout animosity toward anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His followers had foremost resigned en-mass way back to support the election of the current Ondo Governor, Mr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His core loyalists like Hon Iranola Joseph Akinlaja, Hon Alaba Lad Ojomo, Engineer Gboye Adegbenro, Rt Hon Jumoke Akindele, Jide Adejuyigbe, Ms Taiwo Afilaka, Chief Mrs Funmilola Oluwadare, Hon Oladipupo Ajani, Comrade Solomon Adelegan, Comrade Femi Bosede, Hon Adesoji Ayenuro and Eni Akinsola among others, had joined the APC and subsequently worked for the election of Governor Aiyedatiwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eni Akinsola, who served as Mimiko\u2019s CPS, when asked to confirm said, \u201cit is true that the former governor has formally turned in his resignation letter from the PDP,\u201d but did not volunteer any further information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
