There was a tension in the Ikotun area of Lagos State on Wednesday after a 28-year-old woman, Blessing Isioma David, accused a private hospital, Tip-Top Solution Hospital, of allegedly withholding one of her newborn twins after delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The allegation, which has gone viral on social media through a video clip, triggered outrage and confusion at the hospital premises as the woman and her relatives demanded the whereabouts of the second baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the trending footage, Blessing was seen clutching a newborn while repeatedly insisting that she delivered twins, contrary to what she was reportedly handed after childbirth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI came to this hospital to deliver my babies, not to be robbed of one,\u201d she was heard saying amid tears and agitation, as accompanying relatives called for the arrest of hospital staff over alleged baby trafficking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident reportedly drew the attention of onlookers and disrupted activities within the facility as emotions ran high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A medical document circulating alongside the video indicated that the complainant had earlier undergone a scan which showed a twin pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report, dated March 2026, reportedly showed two foetuses with different positions and stated that \u201cTwin visible. Twin 1 is an oblique cephalic while Twin 2 is a transverse presentation,\u201d adding that both had normal cardiac activity. It also indicated different genders for both foetuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The document has since become a key point of contention in the unfolding dispute.
Hospital Denies Allegation<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the Medical Director of Tip-Top Solution Hospital, Dr. Sunday Babajide, dismissed the allegations, insisting that only one baby was delivered in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Babajide explained that the earlier scan result suggesting twins was erroneous, adding that the hospital had communicated the situation to the family before delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe scan was wrong. Only one baby was delivered. The husband saw the baby during delivery and confirmed it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further argued that the scan, reportedly conducted at about 20 weeks of pregnancy, could have been inaccurate, stressing that early ultrasound results are not always definitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe should have insisted she do another scan elsewhere to confirm. That was our mistake,\u201d he admitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed awareness of the incident and announced that an investigation has commenced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said relevant professional bodies had also been contacted to assist in uncovering the facts behind the allegation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to her, the Area Commander in charge of Area M is supervising the investigation to ensure a thorough and transparent process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Command is aware of the trending video and has commenced investigation into the matter. Relevant stakeholders are working with the police to establish the truth,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She urged members of the public to remain calm, assuring that the outcome of the investigation would be made public.

The incident has continued to generate mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians calling for a swift and transparent investigation, while others urged caution pending official findings.
As of press time, authorities had yet to confirm whether there was any evidence supporting the allegation of a missing twin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
