{"id":1200,"date":"2026-04-10T20:13:04","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T20:13:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepublicsquare.com.ng\/?p=1200"},"modified":"2026-04-10T20:13:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T20:13:05","slug":"ondo-licenses-100mw-power-project-to-ore-power-asb-valiant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepublicsquare.com.ng\/index.php\/2026\/04\/10\/ondo-licenses-100mw-power-project-to-ore-power-asb-valiant\/","title":{"rendered":"Ondo Licenses 100MW Power Project to Ore Power, ASB Valiant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ondo State Government has granted electricity generation and distribution licenses to Ore Power Limited and ASB Valiant Electricity Limited, marking a major step toward improving power supply and driving economic growth in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The licenses were issued through the Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Bureau (OSERB) under the Ondo State Electricity Law, 2020, during a ceremony held in Akure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. (Dr.) Johnson Alabi, commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to transforming the state\u2019s power sector. He noted that the administration is focused on building a functional, independent, and investor-driven electricity market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alabi also acknowledged reforms by the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly the Electricity Act, which empowers states to regulate and develop their own electricity markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He described the licensing initiative as a strategic move to ensure stable power supply for households and industries, emphasizing electricity as a key driver of economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commissioner outlined several interventions by the state government, including subsidized metering to ensure fair billing, the establishment of three Special Electricity Courts for dispute resolution, and plans for a statewide electricity grid covering Ondo South, Central, and North. He added that the state has also taken over National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) assets for commercial operations while creating a structured and regulated electricity market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe projects we celebrate today reflect a coordinated approach to efficient power generation, evacuation, and distribution. Ondo State is no longer waiting for solutions\u2014we are creating them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, the OSERB State Coordinator, Engr. Stephen Bolawole, said the initiative demonstrates the government\u2019s resolve to build a reliable and investment-friendly power sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explained that Ore Power Limited, a state-backed embedded generation company, is expected to deliver up to 100 megawatts of electricity to boost supply reliability and support industrial activities in the Ore axis and surrounding communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ASB Valiant Electricity Limited, on its part, will construct an 18-kilometre Omotoso\u2013Ore 33KV double-circuit line to strengthen power evacuation and distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bolawole stressed that the licenses are legally binding and aligned with both state and national electricity laws, urging the companies to meet regulatory and performance standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA), Barr. Emmanuel Omomowo, represented by Engr. Femi Akarakiri, reaffirmed the state\u2019s commitment to attracting investments that add value to the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his remarks, the CEO of Ore Power Limited, Mr. Ayodele Ikumapayi, described Ondo State as a leader in Nigeria\u2019s evolving electricity sector.
