Three children were reportedly killed in a violent domestic attack in Okitipupa, the headquarters of the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Tuesday, leaving residents of the community in mourning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victims, all members of the same extended family, included a female student enrolled in the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) programme, her cousin, and a young boy identified as the biological son of the suspected attacker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was gathered that the suspect, a male relative of the deceased who was said to be mentally unstable, attacked the children with a machete before fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to an eyewitness, the suspect attacked the victims simultaneously, including his biological son and took to his heels after committing the crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The resident said, \u201cThe victims include a JUPEB student and two young boys. One of them is the attacker\u2019s son, while the others are members of the extended family. It is a devastating loss.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that the head of the family, Baba Agbaye, and his wife had reportedly left earlier for their oil farm when the incident happened<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But said, \u201con returning, the old man and his wife met the suspect, who claimed he was coming from the family house, not knowing he had hacked the three victims to death.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the remains of the victims were deposited at the State Specialist Hospital in Okitipupa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Confirming the incident, the State Police spokesperson, Jimoh Abayomi, said the suspect has been arrested and a full investigation is underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe suspect has been arrested, and a thorough investigation is ongoing. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
