Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, alongside leaders of the South West Agenda Group for Asiwaju (SWAGA), has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rescued Nigeria\u2019s economy from collapse and is on course to win all 36 states in the 2027 presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While receiving the support group at the State capital, Aiyedatiwa said Nigeria was at the brink of collapse when Tinubu assumed office, citing economic instability, excessive borrowing, and currency challenges as key issues inherited by the administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, the reforms introduced by the president have repositioned the country, strengthened confidence in governance, and made the task ahead easier for political support groups like SWAGA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe whole nation has seen the quality of the president that we have, and we have seen that there is no alternative now. That is why everybody has decided to join the party of the president, So he is the leader of our party.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aiyedatiwa expressed confidence that Tinubu would not only secure re-election but could achieve a historic victory across all 36 states, noting that the ruling party continues to attract defectors and broaden its national appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He declared that Ondo State alone is targeting over one million votes for the president, stressing that the figure is achievable through coordinated grassroots mobilisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are not just talking about winning; we want to deliver overwhelming votes. A million votes is our minimum target in Ondo, and we will work towards it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also speaking, Chairman of Presidential Campaign and Mobilisation Directorate for SWAGA, Dayo Adeyeye, said Tinubu\u2019s emergence prevented Nigeria from sliding into economic collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Adeyeye, the country was already on the path to bankruptcy before the current administration took over, warning that without decisive intervention, the situation could have worsened into hyperinflation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf not for some key aspects policies of Tinubu, I don\u2019t know where Nigeria would be by now, I want to assure you that Nigeria would have been completely bankrupt, maybe a litre of fuel would be selling for over 10,000, because you don’t even have the money to import it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDangote refinery would not work in a rigidly regulated system. There would be argument over subsidy payments, and not based on the refining of the product. It’s not going to function\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He argued that the government\u2019s previous reliance on Ways and Means described as excessive money printing not backed by production had weakened the economy and threatened the value of the naira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adeyeye noted that the removal of fuel subsidy was inevitable, as all major presidential candidates ahead of the 2023 election had acknowledged its unsustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday, there are more resources for all levels of government. States and local governments now receive significantly higher allocations, enabling them to execute projects and meet obligations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adeyeye further listed improved access to student loans, payment of pensions and gratuities, deployment of CNG buses, and stabilising food prices as indicators that citizens are beginning to feel the impact of the administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also highlighted infrastructure development, particularly the adoption of concrete roads, which he said would offer long-term durability compared to traditional asphalt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Convener of SWAGA, Oyetunde Ojo, reiterated that the group\u2019s renewed campaign under SWAGA 2.0 builds on its early role in promoting Tinubu\u2019s presidency, insisting that the president\u2019s performance justifies a second term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the group visit to the 47th Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade, commended the president for increased federal presence in Akure, including a teaching hospital and plans for an aviation school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SWAGA leaders said the relaunch of the group marks the beginning of intensified nationwide mobilisation aimed at consolidating support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
