{"id":1142,"date":"2026-04-05T18:33:35","date_gmt":"2026-04-05T18:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepublicsquare.com.ng\/?p=1142"},"modified":"2026-04-05T18:33:36","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T18:33:36","slug":"futa-teaching-hospital-begs-health-workers-to-shelve-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepublicsquare.com.ng\/index.php\/2026\/04\/05\/futa-teaching-hospital-begs-health-workers-to-shelve-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"FUTA teaching hospital begs health workers to shelve strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"828\" height=\"496\" src=\"https:\/\/thepublicsquare.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_5691.jpeg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"object-fit:cover;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thepublicsquare.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_5691.jpeg 828w, https:\/\/thepublicsquare.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_5691-300x180.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/thepublicsquare.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_5691-768x460.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 828px) 100vw, 828px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>The management of Federal Teaching Hospital, Akure, has appealed to the Ondo State council of the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals to shelve its planned industrial action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The union had earlier threatened to embark on strike starting April 8, 2026, to press its demands on the hospital management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a notice of strike sent to the institution and signed by the union chairman, Elusoji Olumide, the union said the industrial action had become necessary, alleging that the hospital\u2019s Chief Medical Director had refused to resolve the trade dispute, which has adversely affected the welfare, professional standing, and working conditions of its members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in a statement made available to news men on Sunday, the Head of Public Relations at FUTA Teaching Hospital, Mr Tope Fayehun, described the allegations by the union as unfounded, misleading, and not reflective of the collaborative and transparent processes in place, which are acknowledged by other workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the statement, the institution affirmed its commitment to the welfare of all staff and called on the union to embrace dialogue to resolve the matter amicably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement read, \u201cWe remain fully committed to the welfare of our staff, the delivery of world-class healthcare, and elevating FUTA Teaching Hospital to the customary standards of the leading teaching hospitals in Nigeria and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFUTA Teaching Hospital operates strictly within the established frameworks and best practices applicable to all federal teaching hospitals across the country.
