Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has highlighted the growing economic and tourism potential of the Ondo Auto Rally, describing it as a strategic platform for attracting investment and showcasing the state.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the 2026 edition of the event in Akure<\/a>, the governor said the rally has moved beyond a recreational gathering to become a key contributor to the state\u2019s visibility on the national stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the influx of participants and visitors from across Nigeria signals increasing confidence in Ondo as a destination for major events, adding that the government is leveraging the initiative to promote tourism and local enterprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aiyedatiwa also pointed to the role of infrastructure development in supporting such events, stressing that improved road networks and public facilities are critical to sustaining growth in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The governor commended the collaboration between the Ondo State Investment and Marketing Development Agencyand Work and Play, noting that consistent partnerships have ensured the rally\u2019s continuity and expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his remarks, Managing Director of Work and Play, Adeoye Ojuoko, said the organisation is intensifying efforts to transform Ondo into a motorsport and tourism hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He revealed plans to scale up local production of race cars and relocate operations to the state, a move expected to create jobs and deepen technical capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ojuoko added that discussions with Elizade University are aimed at building a knowledge and innovation base to support the growing motorsport industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further disclosed that the rally concept, which originated in Ondo, is gaining traction in other parts of the country, particularly Lagos, with plans for larger events underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The involvement of partners such as Elizade Motors and contributions from stakeholders, including Femi Akarakiri<\/a>, were also acknowledged as key to the initiative\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
