The husband of Mrs Rachael Alamu, principal of Ahoro Esinle School in Oyo State, who was among those recently rescued from kidnappers, broke into a joyful dance during a thanksgiving service held after her release.
A video shared by Oyo Matters on Sunday captured Professor Alamu celebrating alongside church congregants during the service in Ogbomoso.
In the footage, the professor was seen dancing with other worshippers as they sang “Hallelujah” in gratitude for the safe return of his wife and the other victims after weeks in captivity.
Mrs Alamu was among the pupils and teachers abducted by gunmen from Ahoro Esinle School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15, 2026.
The victims spent more than 50 days in captivity before regaining their freedom.
The Federal Government announced their rescue on Friday, with the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, saying security agencies successfully secured the release of all the captives.
On Saturday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde visited the rescued pupils and teachers at the Military Hospital in Ibadan, where they are receiving medical treatment and psychosocial support.
