Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies for the successful rescue of pupils and teachers who were recently abducted in Oyo State.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the governor expressed gratitude to God for the safe return of the victims, describing the development as a major victory for the nation’s security architecture and a source of relief for families, communities and stakeholders in the education sector.
Speaking on behalf of the government and people of Ondo State, Aiyedatiwa commended President Tinubu for providing the leadership and support that facilitated a swift and coordinated response to the incident.
The governor also praised the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun), and local vigilante groups for their professionalism, courage and effective collaboration in securing the release of the victims.
According to him, the successful operation underscores the commitment of the Federal Government and security agencies to safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians.
“The safe rescue of these pupils and their teachers is a victory for all of us and a testament to the commitment of the Federal Government to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
The governor congratulated his Oyo State counterpart, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on the successful outcome of the rescue operation and commended the resilience demonstrated by the state government throughout the ordeal.
He further reaffirmed Ondo State’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with neighbouring states and federal security agencies in tackling insecurity and preventing similar incidents, particularly in schools and other vulnerable institutions across the region.
Aiyedatiwa also offered prayers for the victims, expressing hope for their quick recovery from any physical or psychological trauma they may have experienced during captivity.
He assured the government and people of Oyo State of Ondo State’s solidarity and support, while calling for sustained cooperation among security stakeholders to enhance safety and public confidence across the Southwest and the country at large.
