Residents of Imafon Community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State were thrown into fear and uncertainty on Monday night after suspected kidnappers reportedly invaded the area, abducting two persons, including a teacher, and killing another victim.
One of the abductees was identified as Mr. Durojaye Fagbonmire, a teacher serving in the community. His abduction was disclosed in a notice circulated by the management of Itaogbolu News Update.
The attack has heightened tension across the community and neighbouring settlements, with residents expressing concern over the worsening security situation in the area.
According to the community group, Fagbonmire was seized by the gunmen while carrying out his teaching duties. The circumstances surrounding the abduction and the reported killing were still unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Community leaders and family members of the victims have appealed to security agencies to launch a swift rescue operation and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The identities of the second abducted victim and the deceased person had yet to be officially confirmed, while security authorities had not issued any statement on the incident.
The latest attack adds to growing concerns over the spate of kidnapping and violent crimes in parts of Akure North, where residents have repeatedly called for enhanced security presence and protection.
