No fewer than 500 women across Ondo State are set to benefit from the second edition of the O’Datiwa Skill Up A Woman Initiative, a six-month vocational and entrepreneurial training programme introduced by the state government to promote economic empowerment among women.Ondo political news
The programme, organised by the Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, is designed to provide participants with practical skills capable of enhancing self-employment opportunities and improving household incomes.
Announcing the commencement of the 2026 batch, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Osamaye, said beneficiaries would undergo training in a wide range of vocational fields tailored to meet current economic and entrepreneurial demands.
She listed the courses to include tailoring and fashion design; tie and dye, batik and Kampala production; snacks making, cakes and flour confectionery; hairdressing, wig making and cosmetology; production of soap, cleaning agents and air fresheners; ICT and computer training; product packaging and marketing; as well as graphic arts and social media content creation.
According to the commissioner, training centres have been established in selected locations across the state to ensure that interested women can conveniently participate in the programme.
The centres are located in Akure, Ilaje, Owo, Ondo, Ikare-Akoko, Ifedore and Irele Local Government areas.
Osamaye called on eligible women to take advantage of the opportunity by registering at the training centre nearest to them.

The commissioner also praised Governor Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa for sustaining policies aimed at empowering women, reducing unemployment and stimulating economic growth across the state.
She expressed confidence that the initiative would further support the administration’s drive to improve the welfare of women and deepen their participation in the socio-economic development of Ondo State.
