Ondo APC to Follow Party Guidelines Ahead of Primaries—Govt

The Ondo State Government has assured that the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will strictly adhere to the guidelines and internal democratic principles laid down by the national leadership of the party ahead of the forthcoming primaries.

The government stated this while calling on party members, aspirants and stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully during the primaries scheduled for May 15, 18 and 20, 2026, for the House of Representatives, State House of Assembly and Senate respectively.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, the government said the APC in Ondo State remains committed to ensuring a transparent, credible and rancour-free process across the state.

According to the statement, the state government is fully aligned with the directive of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC that direct primaries should be adopted in situations where no consensus candidate emerges.

“The Ondo State chapter of the party remains committed to abiding by the guidelines and internal democratic principles laid down by the national leadership of the APC,” the statement said.

The government added that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is committed to maintaining peace and order throughout the exercise in line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It further urged all stakeholders to place the interest of the party above personal ambition and cooperate with security agencies and electoral officials to ensure a successful exercise.
