Panic in Ondo as Man Allegedly Hacks Mother to Death

Residents of Supare-Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State were thrown into panic following a tragic incident in which a man allegedly killed his mother.

The suspect, simply identified as Ife, was said to have attacked his mother, a health officer, at her residence on Thursday afternoon, resulting in her death.

According to sources, the suspect had earlier been seen moving around with a stick and was questioned by residents, but he reportedly claimed he intended to use it for cooking.

A source said, “When some residents saw him in the afternoon, they asked what he wanted to use the stick for, and he said he wanted to cook.

“Sadly, we learnt that the mother had only returned home briefly to pick something when the incident happened. People also said Ife had previously shown signs of violent behaviour towards her.”

When newsmen visited the scene, residents were seen gathered in clusters, discussing the shocking development in hushed tones.

A bystander disclosed that operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, arrested the suspect and evacuated the remains of the deceased.

“The boy, according to residents, is said to be involved in hard drug use. Amotekun officers have taken him into custody,” the source added.
