Mother, Daughter Killed in Akure Attack as Police Rescue Two Kidnap Victims

A tragic attack suspected to be linked to kidnappers has claimed the lives of a mother and her daughter in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The incident, which occurred at Igushin via Ala area of the city, has thrown the community into mourning, even as security operatives intensified efforts to track down those responsible.

Reports indicate that unidentified gunmen carried out the attack, leaving the two victims dead at the scene. However, the Ondo State Police Command confirmed that two other victims were rescued during a swift operation.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, condemned the incident, describing it as heinous and unfortunate.

“The Ondo State Police Command strongly condemns the violent incident at Igushin via Ala, Akure, which led to the tragic loss of two innocent lives,” he said.

Jimoh added that the Command acted promptly, leading to the successful rescue of two victims from the suspected kidnappers.

“While two victims were successfully rescued through a swift and coordinated operation, the Command expresses deep sorrow over the unfortunate deaths recorded,” he stated.

He assured residents that security measures have been reinforced across the state to safeguard lives and property, noting that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.

“The Command assures the public that those responsible will be brought to justice,” he added.

Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information that could aid ongoing investigations.
