The Ondo State Police Command has stepped up security across the state, deploying additional personnel to churches and key public centres ahead of the Easter celebrations.
Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, directed the strategic placement of officers at worship centres, major highways, markets, and recreational facilities to safeguard residents and visitors throughout the festive period.
The Command said the operation forms part of proactive, intelligence-led efforts to prevent crime and maintain public order before, during, and after the celebrations.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Command disclosed that specialized units—including Tactical Teams, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD-CBRN) Unit, the Police Mobile Force, and State Intelligence operatives—have been mobilized to reinforce security.
“The deployment is aimed at ensuring a peaceful environment and enabling swift response to any emerging threats,” the statement said.
Residents were assured of adequate protection and encouraged to go about their religious and social activities without fear.
The Command, however, urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies.
It added that the security arrangement is in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to enhance nationwide safety during the Easter period.
